Khan is working for the security services?

~~

Mohammed Sidique Khan is alleged to be one of the July 7 London bombers.

According to newspaper reports, Khan may have been 'arrested' in 2004 and then released.

Now al Jazeera has broadcast a video which claims to show Khan.

There were reports of a bomb plot in Britain in 2004. Names linked to the plot have included Mohammed SidiqueKhan and Haroon Aswat.

Newsweek said Aswat was linked to the seizure of 590kg of ammonium nitrate fertiliser in Britain, which authorities believed was to be used to make bombs.

The French daily Libération reported that Khan had been one of the targets of a police operation in 2004.

Nicholas Sarkozy, the French interior minister, claimed that "a part of the team" behind the London blasts had been the subject of a counter-terrorism operation in 2004.

That remark appears to refer to Operation Crevice, a string of raids in 31 March 2004 that led to several men being arrested and charged under the Terrorism Act 2000.

From the Daily Mail:

Some of the suspected suicide bombers who attacked London on 7 July had been arrested in 2004 but freed in a bid to catch a wider network, French Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy has claimed.

"It seems that part of this team had been subject to partial arrest... in Spring 2004," Sarkozy told a news conference, reportedly quoting what British Home Secretary Charles Clarke had told an emergency meeting of EU justice and home affairs ministers.

Haroon Rashid Aswat is reported to have made phonecalls to Khan.

The investigation into the London bombings allegedly turned up Aswat's phone number during examination of the mobile telephone records of the four alleged bombers of July 7.

Sources said that days after the first explosions, around 20 phone calls were found to have been made from his mobile to some of the men who caused carnage on the London Underground and a bus in the capital.

Mr. Aswat was raised in Dewsbury, the same area where Mohammad Sidique Khan lived.

The police have recently declared that they are NOT investigating Aswat in connection with the London bombings.

In the tape , the bearded man says he will take part in attacks.

The bearded man appears with a scarf around his head. He looks 'similar to images' of Khan that were published after the London attacks.

The tape is said to come from al-Qaida and al Qaida is said to claim responsibility for the London attacks.
